Announcing my candidacy

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Can’t keep it a secret any longer. Actually, I’ll let the video do the talking…

As soon as IsaacForPresident.com propagates, I’ll have my platform laid out there, as well as the start on fundraising.

“Hey, did we get a siren upgrade, or what?”

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Not quite, I suppose… but a cat fell asleep on an ambulance, and had to go along for the ride – they only noticed the poor thing when they arrived at the emergency call, and it mewed. Aww!

Forecast for Panama City upgraded to Tropical Storm (from Tropical Depression)

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Graphic says it all, really… The exact track (over more land or gulf) determines the strength, but now it looks like a range of maybe 30-40mph sustained winds vs. 25-30…

IT’S COMIN’ RIGHT FOR US!

That’s a South Park reference, in case you don’t recognize it…

Eek!

For once, the spaghetti models are more encouraging than the official track

Hello, Fay

Fay is coming for us! heh.

The fun part is it’s scheduled to hit us Saturday. Whic h  will be my last day delivering for the flower shop (going back to school this fall)...

If she tracks just a little south, we may see TS winds. Otherwise, just TD winds… Still, it’s going to make delivering a pain…

Okay, now I’m beginning to get a little worried…

This thing may be headed our way after all…

The official guidance is east of the model consensus, but the models have been moving west for the past couple of days now…

Flying car? How about a flying motorcycle? Sorta…

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Cool concept:

The MotoPOD RV-10 in action
The listed time to get the motorcycle from the plane is three minutes, so that’s not bad.
Although the modified the engine to reduce the chances for fuel leakage, it still means you’re flying with a gallon or two of gas on your belly.
Cool idea!

Reefer Madness

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

So Reefer Madness opened on Friday. It’s an awesome show.

You can see the larger versions of all of those pictures.

Even better, there’s video!

The real problem is that it’s so narrow that cars scrape the sides… poor planning!

Man killed by train likely miscalculated, coroner’s deputy says

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080816/NEWS01/808160330/-1/SPORTS

So this guy walking on the tracks (DUMB) hears a train horn, looks back, and sees a train approaching on the tracks he’s walking on. So he switches tracks.

But so does the train, and he never looks back again, and it killed.

Stupid.

Sad, but stupid.

The Electronic Cowboy

What could be better than a GPS headset for cows?

Won’t be long before cowboys will be IT geeks.

I suppose it shows that I’m a city “dude”, because I have no clue how you can steer cattle with voice commands, but it sounds cool.

And it looks like it’s solar-powered…

Luggage with “BOMB” written on it…

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Source: http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,26058,24108622-5014090,00.html
So apparently someone wrote “BOMB” on the side of their suitecase and checked it in to Quantas.
The bag was checked, and it wasn’t until baggage handlers got hold of it that someone noticed.
Then, moron managers decided to move the bag – still not checked out by anyone like, say, a police bomb squad – into a more populated area of the airport.
So it’s stupid enough that anyone would think that a bag labelled “BOMB” would actually HAVE a bomb inside, but if you’re going to think it’s a bomb, treat it like a bomb and don’t pick it up, much less move it where more people are.
Brilliant.
I just can’t get over how stupid stuff like this is so common.
